Heavy overnight rain, showers most of the day with a F2 NE wind.
Watches: 0845-1145.

A day of sore heads after the charity bike ride, but a decent day for birding. 2 Common Crane north over the Humber, which landed on Long bank marsh were the highlight, but nearby the drake Green-winged Teal was again on Kilnsea wetlands. Other decent sightings included the Long-eared Owl and a Jack Snipe and the 2 Tawny Owl at Kew.
Little reported migrant wise 3 Woodcock, 1 Rock Pipit, 1 Mistle Thrush, 4 Redwing, 1 Stonechat, 9 Chiffchaff and 3 Goldcrest were about the best of it.

Sightings mainly in theb Kilnsea Wetlands area included 300 Brent Geese plus 1 Pale bellied Brent, 87 Wigeon, 1 Shoveler, 2 Gadwall, 3 Tufted Duck and 70 Black tailed Godwit while over the sea 7 Red throated Diver, 5 Gannet, 10 Kittiwake and 1 Little Gull.

Ringing: 2 Robin, 1 Great Tit, 1 Reed Bunting.

A bright start clouding over with rain in the afternoon and a F1-4 E wind.

The traditional good friday two wheelers charity bike ride took place today, bringing together the local communtiy. As per usual the local birders took part, dressing up in the theme of rappers and having plenty of fun along the way and raised around £450 for Eastend Cancer Research.

The Long-eared Owl continued to show well by Rose cottage.
Sightings today mainly on Kilnsea wetlands today included 520 Brent Geese along with 1 Pale-bellied Brent, 180 Wigeon, 29 Teal, 2 Gadwall, 11 Shoveler, 3 Tufted Duck, 1 Goldeneye, 6 Little Grebe, 120 Curlew, 175 Black-tailed Godwit, 1 Greenshank and 2 Perergine while 4 Jackdaw and 2 Rook were on the move and the Tawny Owl still keep us entertained in the evenings.

Ringing: 1 Chaffinch, 1 Goldfinch.

Bright and sunny mainly with rain late afternoon with a F1-4 E wind
Watches : 0730-1100.

Marginally a better day of movement but still few Finches with 1 Sparrowhawk, 38 Jackdaw, 8 Rook, 20 Carrion Crow, 3 Skylark, 6 Great Tit, 4 Alba Wagtail, 2 White Wagtail, 1 Brambling, 3 Chaffinch, 8 Greenfinch, 16 Goldfinch, 2 Siskin and 3 Reed Bunting. 
Little over the sea either with 4 Wigeon, 2 Teal, 1 Red throated Diver, 7 Eider, 4 Cormorant and 158 Herring Gull.

Migrant wise the well watched Long-eared Owl is still showing well by Rose cottage, 1 Short eared Owl along the canal, 600 Starling, 60 Blackbird, 2 Fieldfare, 3 Redwing, 2 Black Redstart by the Gas Terminal, 3 Chiffchaff, 1 Goldcrest, 1 Bullfinch, 6 Chaffinch and 2 Siskin. Maybe the easterly may bring a few new bits over the weekend?

Other sightings today were 650 Brent Geese, 2 Gadwall, 5 Shoveler, 2 Tufted Duck, 1 Goldeneye, the Little Stint still on Kilnsea Wetlands, 52 Black tailed Godwit and the usual Tawny Owl at Kew.

Ringing: 1 Wood Pigeon, 1 Goldcrest, 1 Tree Sparrow.

Overcast with showers in the afternoon some heavy with a F1 W wind
Watches : 0745-1010.

Still not much happening viz-mig wise but the weather so far this spring is not helping much. Moving today before the rain started were 4 Teal, 8 Jackdaw, 2 Rook, 3 Great Tit, 270 Starling, 2 Alba Wagtail, 4 Meadow Pipit, 24 Chaffinch, 1 Greenfinch, 12 Linnet, 16 Goldfinch and 1 Siskin.

Thrush numbers slowly dropped off, but Great Tit have as is typical of this time of year increased as they begin moving. 600 Starling, 56 Blackbird, 1 Fieldfare, 14 Redwing, 2 Song Thrush, 1 Wheatear, 5 Chiffchaff, 3 Goldcrest, 26+ Great Tit, 1 Bullfinch, 10 Chaffinch and 2 Siskin were the best of the migrants.

Other sightings today were the the Black Brant with the 660 Brent Geese plus 2 Pale bellied Brent, 2 Gadwall, 1 Shoveler, 2 Tufted Duck, 1 Goldeneye, an increase to 22 Avocet, the Little Stint on Kilnsea Wetlands, 1 Woodcock, 44 Black tailed Godwit and the usual Tawny Owl at Kew.

Ringing: 5 Redwing, 10 Great Tit, 5 Chaffinch, 1 Goldfinch, 1 Siskin.

Both the Kilnsea wetlands Little Stint and the Black Brant were present today.

Few sightings mainly as few observers were about. 200 Wigeon, 4 Shoveler, 3 Gadwall, 3 Tufted Duck, 1 Goldeneye, 72 Black tailed Godwit, 1 Greenshank and 1 Brambling were about the best of today.

Another nice pleasant sunny day with scattered cloud and a F1-2 N-ENE wind.
Watches: 0800-1200.

Standout sightings today included a nice Long-eared Owl roosting by Rose cottage, a Firecrest trapped at Kew, an unseasonal Little Stint on Kilnsea wetland and the Black Brant still with the flock of Dark-bellied Brents.

A reduction in all grounded migrants and still few Chiffchaff about. Totals today were 1 Woodcock, 3 Short-eared Owl, 57 Blackbird, 1 Fieldfare, 1 Song Thrush, 20 Redwing, 5 Rock Pipit, 1 White Wagtail, 1 Stonechat, 1 Chiffchaff, 2 Goldcrest, 8 Chaffinch and 1 Siskin. 
Viz-mig was again poor with 9 Jackdaw, 2 Rook, 12 Meadow Pipit in/off, 4 Chaffinch and 5 Greenfinch while heading out east were 2 Curlew. 
Also seen today were 200 Wigeon, 2 Gadwall, 10 Shoveler, 2 Tufted Duck, 1 Goldeneye, 8 Little Grebe, 1 Common Buzzard, 1 Merlin, 1 Peregrine, 2000 Knot on the Humber, 10 Black-tailed Godwit and 1 Greenshank on Kilnsea wetlands and the vocal Tawny owl at Kew.

Ringing: 6 Blackbird, 2 Redwing, 1 Firecrest, 1 Tree Sparrow, 2 Chaffinch, 1 Greenfinch, 1 Goldfinch, 1 Siskin, 1 Yellowhammer, 1 Reed Bunting.

A nice pleasant sunny day with a F1 variable wind.
Watches: 0730-1000, 1600-1800.

A few bits about today in the nice conditions with a lovely Firecrest always a crowd drawer showing well in the Crown carpark. The Black Brant was also still showing.
Migrant wise the continued exodus of Thrushes continues, with numbers remaining high in the area, among decent numbers of other species, 4 Woodcock, 3 Short-eared Owl, 140 Blackbird, 30 Fieldfare, 7 Song Thrush, 210 Redwing, 5 Rock Pipit, 1 Grey Wagtail, 6 Stonechat, 2 Black Redstart, 19 Robin, 4 Chiffchaff, 30 Goldcrest, 15 Chaffinch, 1 Brambling at the Obs and a Bullfinch at Kew. 

Viz-mig was again quiet in the slack winds with 6 Snipe, 16 Jackdaw, 12 Rook, 14 Carrion Crow, 3 Skylark, 4 Meadow Pipit, 70 Starling and 1 Snow Bunting while heading out east 17 Brent Geese, 5 Greylag Geese, 62 Lapwing, 27 Lesser black-backed Gulls and 225 Black-headed Gull.

Also seen today were 245 Wigeon, 80 Teal, 2 Gadwall, 12 Shoveler, 5 Tufted Duck, 4 Goldeneye, 8 Little Grebe, 1650 Oystercatcher at Chalk bank, 16 Avocet and 1 Greenshank on Kilnsea wetlands.

Ringing: 13 Blackbird, 2 Goldcrest, 1 Tree Sparrow, 6 Chaffinch, 1 Reed Bunting.

Mainly cloudy with the odd sunny spells and a F1 NE wind.
Watches: 0700-1100.

A decent day with many observers out and about in the hope the wandering Snowy Owl appears. A Black Brant was found associating with 930 Brent Geese and 2 Pale-bellied Brent by Grange farm, the first 3 Wheatear were seen, 2 Firecrest with birds in Kilnsea at Carylon and at the Potato fields, a Black Redstart at Kilnsea wetlands and 3 Whooper Swan on the Humber with one sporting an orange darvic.

Increases in migrants Thrushes were the feature of the day among other migrants, but still few Chiffchaff about with 7 Woodcock, 2 Short-eared Owl, 130 Blackbird, 7 Fieldfare, 10 Song Thrush, 200 Redwing, 1 White Wagtail, 2 Rock Pipit, 12 Stonechat, 1 Black Redstart, 1 Chiffchaff, 31 Goldcrest, 12 Chaffinch and 2 Siskin. 
As breeding birds moved back into their territories the spring like day was brought to life with the 26 Meadow Pipit and 17 Skylark all vying for attention.

Viz-mig was quieter today with only 9 Lapwing, 6 Jackdaw, 5 Rook, 11 Carrion Crow, 3 Magpie, 3 Skylark, 5 Meadow Pipit and 1 Yellowhammer while heading out east 12 Curlew and 18 Black-headed Gull. 
The only bits noted over the sea were 13 Common Scoter, 1 Eider, 1 Shag and 2 Red-throated Diver.

Also seen today were 45 Wigeon, 16 Teal, 2 Gadwall, 11 Shoveler, 3 Tufted Duck, 4 Goldeneye, 1 Greenshank all on Kilnsea wetlands with 2 Grey Partridge nearby.

Nearby a Great White Egret flew west over the saltmarsh at Skeffling and the male Hen Harrier along with Marsh Harrier and Short eared Owl were in the area.

Ringing: 1 Starling, 13 Blackbird, 8 Redwing, 5 Goldcrest, 1 Blue Tit, 1 Tree Sparrow, 1 Chaffinch, 2 Greenfinch, 2 Goldfinch, 1 Reed Bunting. (35 of 10 species).

A varied species list of birds on the move over land and sea today with 14 Wigeon, 1 Shelduck, 2 Shoveler, 1 Grey Heron, 13 Black-headed Gull, 174 Herring Gull, 7 Jackdaw, 1 Skylark, 14 Starling, 3 Alba Wagtail, 9 Meadow Pipit, 25 Chaffinch, 5 Greenfinch, 11 Linnet, 7 Siskin and 2 Yellowhammer while heading out east 124 Black-headed Gull, 8 Common Gull, 15 Dunlin, 35 Turnstone and 7 Bar-tailed Godwit.

Migrant numbers were similar to the last few days with 1 Water Rail, 1 Woodcock, 1 Short-eared Owl, 8 Rock Pipit, 1 White Wagtail, 69 Blackbird, 1 Redwing, 2 Song Thrush, 1 Fieldfare, 1 Black Redstart, 2 Chiffchaff, 1 Goldcrest and 16 Chaffinch.

Other sightings from today were a Peregrine at the gas terminal, Common Buzzard at Sammys, 1200 Knot and 194 Black-tailed Godwit on the Humber and now 2 Tawny Owl being vocal at Kew.

Much milder with sunny spells and a F2 W wind.
Watches: 

Notably there are still decent numbers of Thrushes in the area and totals returned today were 4 Woodcock, 81 Blackbird, 4 Song Thrush, 2 Redwing, 2 White Wagtail, 5 Rock Pipit, 2 Stonechat, 1 Black Redstart, 3 Chiffchaff, 1 Goldcrest and 21 Chaffinch while viz-mig was quieter with only 1 Sandwich Tern out east, 1 Fieldfare, 2 Meadow Pipit in/off and 3 Siskin on the move. 

Also seen today were 336 Wigeon, 73 Teal, 3 Gadwall, 10 Shoveler, 2 Tufted Duck, 5 Goldeneye, 1 Greenshank all on Kilnsea wetlands and a Shag on the sea.

Ringing: 3 Dunnock, 3 Blackbird, 3 Great Tit, 2 Chaffinch, 2 Greenfinch, 1 Goldfinch, 2 Siskin.

After a heavy overnight frost, a bright sunny morning clouded over with cool F3-4 WNW wind.
Migration Watches: 0730-1130.

A pleasant morning saw a few decent birds being found with the first Firecrest of the spring on Marsh lane, a Long-eared Owl in Churchfield, White Wagtail at the Warren, male Hen Harrier and Jack Snipeat Beacon ponds.

Maybe the first visible migration of the spring saw a few birds on the move with 1 Pink-footed Goose, 8 Curlew out east, 10 Black-headed Gull in, 3 Stock Dove, 12 Jackdaw, 11 rook, 4 Carrion Crow, 3 Skylark, 128 Starling, 1 Song Thrush, 1 White Wagtail, 1 Alba Wagtail, 1 Rock Pipit, 1 Siskin and 1 Yellowhammer while the sea had very little with 4 Common Scoter, 5 Cormorant and 4 Shag.
Migrant counts returned today were 2 Rock Pipit, 75 Blackbird, 32 Redwing, 10 Song Thrush, 20 Robin, 1 Stonechat, 3 Chiffchaff and 10 Chaffinch.

Some other interesting sightings from today were 780 Brent Geese plus 1 Pale-bellied Brent, 52 Teal, 3 Gadwall, 3 Pintail, 8 Shoveler, 2 Tufted Duck, 9 Goldeneye, 2 Grey Partridge, 3 Coot back on territories, 13 Avocet, 1 Greenshank, 40 Black-tailed Godwit and the Tawny Owl still vocal at Kew.

Ringing: 1 Blackbird, 1 Robin, 3 Goldfinch, 2 Greenfinch, 2 Chaffinch.

Sunny spells with a cool F3 N wind.
Watches: 0715-1015.

Migrant wise we are still waiting our first Wheatear, but there was still plenty to look at in the meantime. Counts returned today were 66 Blackbird, 5 Redwing, 14 Song Thrush, 47 Robin, 2 Stonechat, 1 Black Redstart at Bluebell caravan park, 1 Goldcrest and a Rock Pipit on Clubleys.

Sightings mainly from the Beacon ponds/Kilnsea wetlands area were still producing good counts of Wildfowl with 600 Brent Geese, 16 Greylag Geese, 466 Wigeon, 114 Teal, 13 Shoveler, 4 Pintail, 3 Gadwall, 2 Tufted Duck, 4 Goldeneye, Peregrine blogging about the area, 8 Avocet, 192 Curlew, 135 Black-tailed Godwit, 1 Greenshank, 2 Woodcock and the Tawny Owl at Kew.

The sea soon reverted back to being quiet with 5 Common Scoter, 1 Shag, 11 Red-throated Diver, an adult Iceland Gull, 1 Kittiwake and 5 Auk sp while a trickle of overland birds producing 4 Jackdaw, 1 Rook, 1 Alba Wagtail and 1 Meadow Pipit which will hopefully pick up if the wind stays in the south west.

Ringing: 1 Dunnock, 6 Blackbird, 1 Goldfinch, 1 Chaffinch.

Sunny spells with a cool F3-4 E wind.
Watches: 0750-1000, 1400-1600.

The Green-winged Teal remained on Kilnsea Wetlands. 

While a full peninsula count has not been made there was an increase in Blackbird with 102 logged, but 19 were caught in one small net at Kew. Other counts returned today were 5 Woodcock, 1 Mistle Thrush, 13 Redwing, 28 Song Thrush, 20 Robin, 1 Stonechat, 2 Black Redstart, 1 Chiffchaff, 4 Goldcrest and a Rock Pipit on Clubleys.

Some interesting sightings from today were 400 Brent Geese, an Eider on Easington lagoon, a male Marsh Harrier at sammys, over 100 House Sparrow and 60 Tree Sparrow, with most coming to the feeders at the Obs and the Tawny Owl still vocal at Kew.

The sea as usual received its unfair attention for what it had with 11 Wigeon, 3 Common Scoter, 1 Red-breasted Merganser, 4 Red-throated Diver, 1 Fulmar, 4 Gannet, 13 Kittiwake, 1 Little Gull, 8 Guillemot, 3 Razorbill and 2 Auk sp.

Another cold raw day dawned to a covering of snow with a bitter 4-5 E wind.
Seawatch: 0730-1040.

The Green-winged Teal was still on Kilnsea wetlands while also here 534 Wigeon, 67 Teal, 4 Pintail, 5 Shoveler, 3 Gadwall, 1 Tufted Duck and 5 Goldeneye.

A small arrival brought 4 Black Redstart (with 2 by cliffe farm and 2 by Easington Cem) including a cracking male, plus a nice White Wagtail to Kilnsea wetlands. Also today 16 Fieldfare, 12 Redwing, 14 Song Thrush, an increase in Robin numbers, a 'Littoralis' Rock Pipit at the breach, 1 Stonechat, 2 Chiffchaff and 2 Goldcrest while overnight the Tawny Owl remained vocal.

A few bits over the sea in difficult conditions with spray still entering the hide. The best being 4 Eider, 2 Common Scoter, 1 Red throated Diver, 2 Fulmar, 9 Gannet, 6 Little Gull, 38 Kittiwake, 3 Auk sp and 16 Guillemot.

A cold windy day with frequent snow showers and blizzard conditions with a F5-6 E wind.
Watches: 0700-1030.

A miserable looking Sandwich Tern on Holderness field was the 1st of the year, but also equalled our earliest ever record and a nice male Black Redstart was by the Bluebell.

Sightings from today were 2 Whooper Swan, 300 Brent Geese plus 2 Pale-bellied Brent, 250 Wigeon, 50 Teal, male Green-winged Teal, 2 Pintail, 2 Gadwall, 3 Tufted Duck, 4 Goldeneye, 4 adult Little GullKilnsea wetlands, the Tawny Owl at Kew and 8 song Thrush in the Triangle.

Despite the often challenging conditions with regular waves going over the hide, a bit more on the move over the sea today with 20 Wigeon, 1 Pintail, 2 Common Scoter, 3 Fulmar, 4 Gannet, 4 Oystercatcher, 1 Little Gull, 128 Kittiwake, 4 Lesser Black-backed Gull, 81 Herring Gull and 74 Common Gull.

The 1st migrant Black Redstart of the spring was at Westmere farm and the Green-winged Tealremained on Kilnsea wetlands.

Interesting sightings today were 2 Whooper Swan, 3 Tufted Duck, 4 Goldeneye, 4 Woodcock, 1 Greenshank, the Tawny Owl very vocal at Kew and 2 Long-tailed Tit.

A cloudy start brightened up by mid day with a F1-3 ENE wind
Watches : 0900-1120.

An interesting Duck in the Holderness field appeared more likely to be an unusual plumaged Eurasian Wigeon rather than a hybrid.
With so few Rock Pipit around this winter it was nice to get a Water Pipit on Clubleys scrape before it flew off south.

Decent sightings were the 700 Brent Geese plus 1 Pale bellied Brent, 61 Teal, 1 Gadwall, 8 Shoveler, 1 Pochard, 5 Goldeneye, 4 Avocet, 1 Woodcock, 103 Black tailed Godwit, 1 Greenshank, Peregrine over the Humber, the Tawny Owl at Kew and 2 Siskin.

Over the sea were 20 Red throated Diver, 1 Fulmar, 1 Shag, 1 Cormorant and 5 Auk sp.

Ringing: 6 Great Tit, 4 Chaffinch, 1 Greenfinch, 2 Goldfinch, 1 Siskin.

Cloudy start brightening up later with a F1 NE wind.

Sightings on Kilnsea wetlands today included 1000 Brent Geese along with 2 Pale-bellied Brent, 300 Wigeon, 30 Teal, the drake Green-winged Teal making a re-appearance, 7 Shoveler, 1 Pintail, 1 Tufted Duck, 3 Little Egret, 4 Avocet, 90 Black-tailed Godwit and 1 Greenshank. 
Elsewhere the 1st Returning Brambling was trapped at Kew, a Goldcrest in Churchfield, 2 Stonechat and a small increase in Thrushes and Finches.

Ringing: 1 Robin, 1 Dunnock, 2 Blackbird, 1 Song Thrush, 1 Redwing, 1 Goldcrest, 5 Great Tit, 1 Great Spotted Woodpecker, 2 Chaffinch, 1 Brambling, 2 Goldfinch, 1 Greenfinch. (19 of 12 species).

Sightings today were 359 Wigeon, 51 Teal, 9 Shoveler, 6 Goldeneye, 3 Tufted Duck, 28 Lapwing, 183 Black-tailed Godwit, 89 Curlew while the few birds on the move today were 4 Shoveler, 19 Lapwing and 3 Skylark flew south while 4 Meadow Pipit flew north west.

Overnight frost gave way to a sunny day, clouding up later with a F1-3 SE-SSW wind.
Migration Watches: 0730-1100.

As the weather turns mild with a more southerly airflow and the first Wheatears arriving down south, it might be of interest to note our first in 2017 were, on 16th March while Swallow and House Martin were both seen on the 13th, Firecrest 11th, Chiffchaff 11th, Ring Ouzel 29th, Sandwich Tern 30th, Red-rumped Swallow and Little-ringed Plover both 31st. We at Spurn Bird Obs are as usual waiting in anticipation.

Sightings today included a White-fronted Goose in the triangle, 320 Brent Geese, 1 Gadwall, a Green Sandpiper on Kilnsea wetlands, Mediterranean Gull on the Humber, 1 Peregrine, 1 Stonechat, 1 Rock Pipit and 18 Linnet.
On the move were 1 Marsh Harrier, 2 Stock Dove, 11 Skylark, 3 Meadow Pipit, 480 Starling, 1 Chaffinch and 1 Siskin.
The sea was poor with 1 Teal, 12 Cormorant, 1 Great Crested Grebe and a Purple Sandpiper south.

Showers on and off all day and a F2-3 W wind.

Quiet today, but a bit more on the move over the sea today producing 1 Wigeon, 4 Teal, 3 Common Scoter, a female Long-tailed Duck, 34 Red-throated Diver, 1 Shag, 1 Great Crested Grebe, 2 Kittiwake and 2 Guillemot while overland only 3 Skylark were seen.

Overcast to start, with sunny spells in the afternoon and a F1-2 SW wind.

The milder weather continues and the first signs of birds on the move today with 71 Lapwing, 5 Stock Dove, 6 Jackdaw, 4 Rook, 7 Skylark, 115 Starling, 11 Meadow Pipit and 2 Chaffinch.

Counts today 109 Shelduck, 245 Oystercatcher, 1 Common Buzzrd, a Whimbrel on the Humber, 2 Woodcock, 2 Rock Pipit, 1 Stonechat and 17 Linnet. 
Moving over the sea were 2 Wigeon, 1 Goosander, 18 Red-throated Diver and 9 Cormorant.

Interesting counts and sightings today were 400 Wigeon, 53 Teal, 3 Shoveler, 2 Tufted Duck, 8 Goldeneye, 10 Little Grebe, 3 Woodcock, 120 Black-tailed Godwit, the Tawny Owl at Kew, 1 Mistle Thrush, 3 Stonechat, 1 Rock Pipit, 4 Long-tailed Tit and 20 Linnet. 

Moving over the sea were 19 Red-throated Diver, 2 Shag, 1 Great Crested Grebe, a Glaucous Gull, 7 Auk sp and 1 Guillemot.

Counts today 109 Shelduck, 1 Common Buzzard, 15 Woodcock, 2 Little Owl, 6 Stock dove, 40 Carrion Crow, 1 Coal Tit and 3 Long-tailed Tit in Easington, 76 Blackbird, 3 Fieldfare, 1 Rock Pipit on Clubley’s and a Twite at the breach. 
Moving over the sea were 1 Eider, 28 Common Scoter, 25 Red-throated Diver, 4 Wigeon, 8 Cormorant, 5 Great Crested Grebe, 5 Guillemot and 2 Auk sp.

Ringing: 1 Robin, 2 Blackbird, 1 Redwing, 1 House Sparrow, 1 Greenfinch.

Light rain petered out early with sunny spells and a F2 SE wind.
Watches: 0750-0945.
A day of assessing the damage after the constant strong easterly winds and big destructive seas. 
- The scene of devastation was repeated up and down the coast, with various Fish species, Starfish, Lobsters and other creatures washed up. How long will the sea take to recover?
- Many Birds were found dead as the snow had melted.
- The breach took a big hit, with sand removed from that area, down to the clay making it difficult for the RNLI.
- The Warren Heligoland trap, one of the oldest in Britain, succumbed to a large amount of damage.

Birdwise sightings today included a Great Crested Grebe on Beacon ponds, 225 Wigeon, 6 Shoveler, 6 Goldeneye, 2 Common Buzzard, 1 Coot with another found dead near the breach, 2 Snipe, 30 Woodcock plus another 5 picked up dead, 420 Oystercatcher, 166 Black-tailed godwit, female Peregrine over the Humber, a Water Rail by the Bluebell, 68 Fieldfare, 37 Blackbird, 12 Redwing, 1 Mistle Thrush, 3 Song Thrush, 4 Stonechat, 2 Long-tailed Tits and 12 Yellowhammer.

Ringing: 2 Robin, 1 Blackbird, 2 Starling, 1 House Sparrow, 2 Greenfinch, 1 Goldfinch.

The thaw is slowly taking over as it becomes milder in the sunny spells with a F2-3 E wind.

A Little Gull was showing well in the breakers off the Bluebell while other sightings today included 9 Mute Swan, 400 Wigeon, 41 Teal, male Gadwall, 60 Mallard, 4 Shoveler, 2 Tufted duck, 9 Goldeneye, 12 Snipe, 26 Woodcock, 156 Black-tailed godwit, female Peregrine over the Humber, a Water Rail by the Bluebell, 60 Fieldfare, 3 Redwing, 9 Song Thrush, 1 Stonechat, 2 Long-tailed Tits and the resident ring-necked Parakeet in Easington.

The juvenile Kittiwake was released successfully having put a good amount of weight on.

Ringing: 1 Kittiwake, 1 Woodcock, 1 Blue Tit.

The beginnings of a thaw, but still remaining very cold.

Sightings today included 350 Wigeon 4 Shoveler, 2 Tufted duck, 6 Goldeneye, 14 Snipe, 2 Woodcock, a Kittiwake over the Borrow pits, 2 Long-tailed Tits and a Siberian Chiffchaff in a birders garden in Easington.

The month began with another very cold cloudy day with a strong 5+ E wind.
Migration Watches: 
Almost too raw to go outside birding, but a few sightings worthy of note with a Jack Snipe, 40 Black-tailed Godwits, Peregrine, 9 Fieldfare, 2 Redwing and the 2 Long-tailed Tits.

Ringing: 4 Fieldfare.
