A wet windy day with late sunny spells driven by a horrible F9 south westerly.  Watches: 0640-1010.

The besty of day were a Water Pipit on Clubleys, 1 Black Redstart in Kilnsea, a Twite at Sand beaches and 5 Snow Bunting. It was diffcult looking for migrants, but a few bits were recorded with a Woodcock, 2 Jack Snipe, 4 Chiffchaff, 3 Goldcrest, a Coal Tit, 50 Blackbird, 17 Redwing, 6 Song Thrush, 5 Stonechat, a Wheatear, 71 Chaffinch and a Brambling.

Considering the weather there was some movement the best being 3 Tufted Duck, 2 Eider, a Common Tern, 2 Arctic Skua, 43 Skylark, 2 Rock Pipit, 50 Linnet, 15 Goldfinch and 162 Siskin. Full counts on Trektellen.

Recorded elsewhere were 23 Whooper Swan on Easington straight, a Pale-bellied Brent on the Humber and a Spotted Redshank on Kilnsea wetlands.

Heavy rain gave way to sunny spells, driven by a F5 south westerly. Watches: 0700-1215.

It was a good day for birds on the move, the vismiggers at Numpties having a particular good morning with a record 1728 Siskin counted along with a Sparrowhawk, 1 Marsh Harrier, 6 Lapwing in/off, 11 Snipe in/off, 21 Skylark, 1586 Starling (1130 in/off), 13 Blackbird in/off, 50 Redwing, 3 Song Thrush, 28 Rock Pipit, 27 Chaffinch, 5 Brambling, a Twite, 100 Linnet, 25 Redpoll and 101 Goldfinch. Over the sea were 376 Wigeon, 6 Pintail, 349 Teal, 6 Pochard, 21 Tufted Duck, 6 Eider, 4 Goldeneye, a Goosander, 4 Great Northern Diver, 284 Dunlin and 3 Little Gull. Full counts on Trektellen.

Grounded migrants were well represneted with 2 Woodcock, 6 Chiffchaff, a Blackcap, 15 Goldcrest, 4000 Starling, 49 Blackbird, 33 Redwing, 12 Song Thrush, 2 Black Redstart, 12 Stonechat, 3 Grey Wagtail, 184 Chaffinch, 5 Brambling, 4 Twite, 3 Lesser Redpoll and 3 Snow Bunting.

The Kilnsea wetlands area as usual didn't disappoint with a Pale-bellied Brent, 920 Pink-footed Geese, 32 Whooper Swan, 9 Pintail, 2 Tufted Duck, 76 Black-tailed Godwit, 2 Spotted Redshank, 13 Mediterranean Gull and a Caspian Gull.

Coudy with drizzle and a F6 south westerly.  Watches: 0700-1720.

There was an increase in grounded migrants and arrivals from the sea, with 58 Lapwing, 2 Woodcock, 15 Snipe, 31 Skylark, 1489 Starling, 4 Redwing, 60 Chaffinch and 8 Brambling in/off, while grounded birds included a Woodcock, a Swift sp, 2 Chiffchaff, 2 Blackcap, 4 Goldcrest, 500 Starling, 39 Redwing, 29 Song Thrush, 2 Black Redstart, 6 Stonechat, 91 Chaffinch, 22 Brambling and 28 Siskin.

On the move were 327 Wigeon, 115 Teal, 18 Eider, 3 Velvet Scoter, 92 Common Scoter, 2 Goosander, 3 Red-breasted Merganser, a Shag, 30 Bar-tailed Godwit, 229 Dunlin, a Grey Phalarope, 1 Greenshank, a Sandwich Tern, 3 Swallow, 54 Redwing, 10 Rock Pipit, 89 Chaffinch, 3 Twite and 111 Siskin. Elsewhere it was much the same with the 1400 Pink-footed Geese, 23 Whooper Swan, Pale-bellied Brent and Spotted Redshank all present, but 2 Scaup on Kilnsea wetlands were new.

Sunny spells with a strong F6 south westerly.  Watches: 0700-1130.

There were yet again few migrants on the ground in the area, a Woodcock, 2 Chiffchaff, a Blackcap, 9 Goldcrest, 30 Blackbird, a Fieldfare, 39 Redwing, 7 Song Thrush, 2 Mistle Thrush, 10 Stonechat, 2 Brambling and a Twite at Sandy beaches plus a Cetti's Warbler at the Point..

The best of birds on the move today were 4 Eider, 7 Little Gull, 200 Wood Pigeon, 3 Jay, 20 Skylark, 3 Swallow, 13 House Sparrow, a Water Pipit, 19 Rock Pipit, a Twite, 80 Linnet, 99 Goldfinch, 223 Siskin and 16 Reed Bunting. Full details on Trektellen.

Otherwise 1460 Pink-footed Geese rosted at Kilnsea wetlands along with a Pale-bellied Brent and 170 Brent Geese, 498 Wigeon, a Spotted Redshank and 1 Greenshank with 23 Whooper Swan nearby on Easington straight.

A blustery day with a F7 south westerly.  Watches: 0705-1430.

It was another day of little happening on the birding front, as we seem to be slipping into winter. Hopefully some new arrivals will happen soon, but in the meantime the few migrants seen included just 2 Chiffchaff, 6 Goldcrest, 1500 Starling, 54 Blackbird, 24 Redwing, 2 Song Thrush, 8 Stonechat, 9 Pied Wagtail, a Twite and 2 Snow Bunting.

The best of movement were 6 Whooper Swan, 5 Eider, 2 Goosander, 2 Red-breasted Merganser, 2 Little Gull, a Swallow, 30 Tree Sparrow, a Water Pipit, 31 Rock Pipit, 3 Brambling, 67 Linnet, 54 Goldfinch and 560 Siskin.

Other bits of note were 1200 Pink-footed Geese, 21 Whooper Swan, 82 Black-tailed godwit, 2 Spotted Redshank and a Caspian Gull on Kilnsea wetlands and 152 Brent Geese on the Humber.

Ringing: 4 Blackbird, 1 Song Thrush, 1 Redwing, 3 Tree Sparrow, 1 Chaffinch.

A cloudy day with drizzle and a F5-6 south westerly.  Watches: 0650-1015.

It was one of those there was a bit of everthing, but not much of anything. The best of the day were 5 Twite at Sandy beaches showing well plus 4 more south at the Warren, a Lapland Bunting and Snow Bunting by the Gas terminal and the Black-throated Diver flying north over the sea.

Sunny spells and a F4 south westerly.  Watches: 0700-1600.

Despite the conditions there was a small, but noticeable arrrival bringing a Woodcock, 1 Jack Snipe, 3 Swallow, a Willow Warbler, 4 Chiffchaff, 2461 Starling in/off, 3 Blackcap, 8 Goldcrest, 350 Blackbird, 478 Redwing, 17 Song Thrush, a Mistle Thrush, 8 Stonechat, 18 Dunnock, a Tree Pipit, 5 Brambling, 6 Twite and a Lesser Redpoll to the area. 

It was another decent day of moveement with 372 Pink-footed Geese, 13 Whooper Swan, 5 Shoveler, 793 Wigeon, 13 Pintail, 286 Teal, a Tufted Duck, 8 Eider, 51 Common Scoter, 3 Great Northern Diver, 2 Great Crested Grebe, a Marsh Harrier, 1 Red Kite, 49 Lapwing in/off, 2 Woodcock in/off, an Arctic Tern, 11 Jackdaw, 187 Skylark, 2 Swallow, 98 Tree Sparrow, 118 Rock Pipit, 15 Chaffinch, 22 Greenfinch, 12 Twite, 196 Linnet, a Lesser Redpoll, 241 Goldfinch, 555 Siskin and 27 Reed Bunting. The KIlnsea wetlands as usual was good for birding and photgraphers alike with 1200 Pink-footed Geese, 21 Whooper Swan, 25 Shoveler, 20 Little Egret, 12 Black-tailed Godwit, a Ruff, 1 Little Stint, a Spotted Redshank and 4 Mediterranean Gull, along with all the usual Wildfowl and Waders.

Ringing: 32 Blackbird, 2 Song Thrush, 6 Redwing, 3 Blackcap, 1 Goldcrest, 2 Wren, 1 Dunnock, 1 Great Tit, 1 Blue Tit, 25 Tree Sparrow, 1 House Sparrow, 9 Goldfinch, 1 Lesser Redpoll, 1 Chaffinch.

A cloudy day with the odd sunny spell and a F5-6 south westerly. Watches: 0645-1350.

The day  was again dominated by movement over land and sea, with a brilliant 14,393 Starling arriving in/off and continuing west with also 56 Lapwing, 2 Woodcock, 9 Snipe, a Ring Ouzel, 2 Blackbird, 48 Redwing and 4 Brambling going the same way. Also on the move were 18 Brent Geese, 7 Gadwall, 930 Wigeon, 20 Pintail, 141 Teal, 21 Tufted Duck, 12 Eider, 12 Eider, 4 Goldeneye. a Black-throated Diver, 1 Great Northern Diver, 53 Dunlin, an Arctic Tern, 1 Arctic Skua, 34 Rock Pipit, 66 Siskin and a Snow Bunting.

Despite the arrival during the day, there were few actaul grounded migrants with a Jay, 2 Swallow, 4 Chiffchaff, 2 Blackcap, 10 Goldcrest, a Ring Ouzel, 47 Blackbird, 2 Fieldfare, 44 Redwing, 5 Stonechat, 6 Brambling and 6 Twite.

Other bits during the day were 1200 Pink-footed Geese and 22 Whooper Swan at Kilnsea wetlands plus a Green Sandpiper and 1 Spotted Redshank.

Sunny spells and showeres with a F1 northerly.  Watches: 0700-1120.

It was a good day for movement over land and sea, the best of which were 111 Whooper Swan, a Scaup, 3 Goldeneye, 3 Manx Shearwater, a Grey Phalarope, 88 Kittiwake, 135 Little Gull, 39 Mediterranean Gull, 227 Common Gull, 2 Arctic Tern, a Great Skua, 14 Arctic Skua, 3 Little Auk, 44 Skylark, 4 SWallow, a House Martin, 4 Twite, a Mealy Redpoll, 14 Siskin, 3 Lapland Bunting and 13 Snow Bunting.

There were a few bits of note out and about in the area, a brute of a Glaucous Gull on Kilnsea wetlands was nice and 8 Twite about the area plus 2 Beared Tit and a Hawfinch at the Warren, a Ring Ouzel at the Point and 5 Snow Bunting at Beacon ponds. There was aslo a wide scatter of common migrants to hep tick the day over with 7 Chiffchaff, 3 Blackcap, a Whitethroat, 14 Goldcrest, 37 Blackbird, 3 Fieldafre, 163 Redwing, 3 Song Thrush, 11 Robin, 9 Stonechat, 17 Brambling, 10 Lesser Redpoll, 6 Siskin.

A mild day and after early showers, sunny spells with a F4-5 south westerly. Watches: 0650-0905.

The TWO-BARRED GREENISH WARBLER was still present for its 5th day, showing very well at close range, after the wet weather the previous day. There was a few other bits of note during the day with a Hawfinch at Cliff farm, 2 Bearded Tit on Beacon lane and 3 Ring Ouzel in the area, plus 10 Chiffchaff, a Blackcap, 11 Goldcrest, 50 Redwing, 4 Song Thrush, 8 Stonechat, 3 Grey Wagtail and 35 Brambling.

It was also a fantastic morning for birds on the move for the vismiggers at the Warren with 873 Siskin the highlight along with 4 Jay, 24 Jackdaw, 34 Rook, 252 Skylark, 12 SWallow, 4 House Martin, 28 Starling, 240 Tree Sparrow, a Grey Wagtail, 13 Alba Wagtail, 210 Meadow Pipit, 125 Rock Pipit, 37 Chaffinch, 8 Brambling, a Bullfinch, 21 Greenfinch, 225 Linnet, 29 Lesser Redpoll, 631 Goldfinch, 2 Lapland Bunting, a Snow Bunting, 1 Yellowhammer and 73 Reed Bunting, while the best of the sea was 21 Whooper Swan, 2 Red-breasted Merganser, 30 Kittiwake and a Great Skua.

The roost movement of Pink-footed Geese revealed at least 1200 birds on to the Humber, where 2 Pale-bellied Brent Geese remained while on Kilnsea wetlands the Caspian Gull was again present along with 2 Whooper Swan, 24 Pintail, 82 Black-tailed Godwit, 600 Redshank and 3 Spotted Redshank.

A cloudy wet day with a warm F4-5 southerly. Watches: 0645-1315.

The TWO-BARRED GREENISH WARBLER continued to entertain, despite the rain and a Serin flew south over Easington playing field, while a nice arrival brought a good total of 17 Ring Ouzel, 390 Redwing and 27 Brambling to the area plus a late juvenile Hobby, 1 Jack Snipe showing well on canal scrape, a Woodcock, 4 Song Thrush, 6 Stonechat, 500 Starling, a Reed Warbler, 3 Blackcap, 4 Chiffchaff, 10 Goldcrest, 20 Chaffinch, 32 Siskin and 2 Snow Bunting..

The Caspian Gull was again on Kilnsea wetlands along with 2 Whooper Swan, 446 Wigeon, 19 Pintail, 41 Little Egret, 70 Black-tailed Godwit, 2 Curlew Sandpiper, 700 Redshank, 3 Spotted Redshank, 8 Greenshank, 10 Mediterranean Gull and a Little Gull with 1250 Pink-footed Geese nearby on Easington straight.

It was quiet overall for movement over land and sea, the best being a Tufted Duck, 12 Goldeneye, a Marsh Harrier, 18 Little Gull, 2 Arctic Tern, a Great Skua, 3 Arctic Skua, 22 Skylark, 55 Tree Sparrow and 62 Rock Pipit. Full totals on Trektellen.

It has come to our attention that Short-eared Owls are being repeatedly flushed in our area. Needless to say, the Observatory does not condone this behaviour. Your flight views or photograph do not come before the welfare of these birds.

A murky start brightening alittle, but drizzle in the afternoon with a F4 southerly.  Watches: 0650-1245.

The TWO-BARRED GREENISH WARBLER continued to entertain, showing very well in the canal hedge area. Migrant totals were boosted slightlyby a small arrival with a Long-eared Owl, a Bearded Tit, 6 House Martin, 5 Chiffchaff, an Eastern type Lesser Whitethroat 'churring' by the Warren gate, 5 Goldcrest, 748 Redwing, 2 Mistle Thrush, 9 Song Thrush, 12 Robin, 16 Stonechat, a White Wagtail, 2 Brambling and 3 Snow Bunting..

Despite the coindiotions there was still a bit of southerly movement over sea and land with the best being 2 Tufted Duck, 3 Scaup, an Eider, 3 Goldneye, 3 Goosander, a Red-breasted Merganser, 5 Snipe, a juvenile Arctic Tern, 1 Arctic Skua, 4 House Martin, 9 Swallow, 122 Skylark, 28 Rock Pipit, 197 Linnet, 11 Redpoll, 228 Goldfinch and 26 Siskin. Kilnsea wetlands held 2 Whooper Swan, 18 Shoveler, 12 Pintail, 22 Black-tailed Godwit, a Curelw Sandpiper, a Spotted Redshank, 1 Greenshank, 8 Mediterranean Gull, a Caspian Gull and 1 Little Gull, with upto 800 Pink-footed Geese near Essington. On the Humber there were 4 Pale-bellied Brent in the 350 Dark-bellied Brent flock which also included a leucistic bird and the hybrid Black Brant x Brent.

Ringing: 2 Blackbird, 10 Redwing, 2 Goldfinch.

A cool cloudy overcast day and a F3 south westerly.  Watches: 0645-1100.

The star bird was still present in the canal hedge area with the TWO-BARRED GREENISH WARBLER, sometimes showing down to a few yards and heard to call on at least three occasions. It was again tough going for any back up species with just a Jack Snipe, 1 Woodcock, 5 Bearded Tit, 13 Chiffchaff, 2 Blackcap, 13 Goldcrest, 36 Wren, 42 Redwing, 3 Song Thrush, 14 Blackbird, 2 Mistle Thrush, 6 Stonechat, 2 Grey Wagtail, 4 Brambling, 1 Siskin, a Lapland Bunting over observers at the Warbler and the occasionally showy Snow Bunting.

Unfortunately, the highlight of the sea was a Leach’s Petrel found freshly dead, having impaled its wing on a barbed wire fence at the gas terminal, while also seen were 2 Velvet Scoter, 2 Red-breasted Merganser, 32 Red-throated Diver, a Great Northern Diver, 1 Black-throated Diver, a Sooty Shearwater, 2 Manx Shearwater, 57 Gannet, 129 Little Gull, a Caspian Gull, an Arctic Tern and 1 Arctic Skua, while the best overland were another good count of 49 Rock Pipit.

Today’s offerings from the Kilnsea wetlands area were 2 Whooper Swan, 26 Pintail, 20 Black-tailed Godwit, 2 Curlew Sandpiper, a Spotted Redshank and 2 Greenshank.

 cool start, sunny spells during the day with a F4 westerly. 

It would have been fair to say that when news of a Tiaga Flycatcher broke from Flamborough the atmosphere at Spurn was a bit flat and with few obvious migrants about, it felt like we had been truly gazumped. Fast forward into the afternoon to news of an elusive Yellow-browed Warbler near the gate, then in canal hedge and better views an hour or so later showed it be Spurns first ever TWO-BARRED GREENISH WARBLER, which then showed very well on and off upto dusk. The few migrants about today included a flyover calling Olive-backed Pipit at Kew, (but with no photos or call recording it may not go far), 4 Jay, 5 Bearded Tit, a Swallow, 2 House Martin, 13 Chiffchaff, a Blackcap, 6 Goldcrest, 15 Blackbird, 17 Redwing, 3 Song Thrush, 19 Robin, 9 Stonechat, a Grey Wagtail, 1 Tree Pipit, 7 Brambling and the Snow Bunting.

On the move today were a 43 Whooper Swan, Great White Egret, 3 Grey Heron, 2 Little Egret, a Common Buzzard, 2 Kestrel, 31 Rook, 10 Great Tit, 72 Skylark, 4 Swallow, an Alba Wagtail, 117 Meadow Pipit, 58 Rock Pipit, 17 Chaffinch, 26 Greenfinch, 47 Linnet, 6 Redpoll, 486 Goldfinch, 24 Siskin, 8 Yellowhammer and 29 Reed Bunting, while the best of the sea were 310 Pink-footed Geese, 3 Tufted Duck, a Velvet Scoter, 1 Sooty Shearwater, a Great Crested Grebe, 43 Little Gull, an Arctic Tern, 2 Arctic Skua and a Great Skua.

A few bits around the Kilnsea wetlands area with 1034 Pink-footed Geese, 2 Whooper Swan, 68 Black-tailed Godwit, 2 Curlew Sandpiper, 3 Spotted Redshank, a Little Stint,  2 Greenshank and an adult Yellow-legged Gull. 

Ringing: 2 Chiffchaff, 1 Great Tit, 2 Blackbird, 1 Wren, 14 Tree Sparrow, 2 House Sparrow, 4 Lesser Redpoll, 10 Goldfinch, 2 Yellowhammer, 1 Dunnock.

A bight and sunny day but cold in the F3 northerly.  Watches: 0700-1755.

The wind direction brought us a few bits over the sea, while more arrivals of Thrushes occured. There was no sign of the Bonelli's Warbler, but a brief Red-breasted Flycatcher was in Easington. The Eastern type Lesser Whitethroat was again in the Obs garden, 10 Bearded Tit were along the canal and the showy Snow Bunting along the canal on the beach plus a Jack Snipe, 1 Jay, 3 Swallow, a Willow Warbler, 16 Chiffchaff, a Reed Warbler, 1 Blackcap, 15 Goldcrest, 90 Blackbird, 6 Song Thrush, a Mistle Thrush, 546 Redwing, 14 Robin, 5 Stonechat, a Wheatear, 17 Dunnock, 4 Grey Wagtail, 2 Rock Pipit, 43 Chaffinch, 8 Brambling and 4 Lesser Redpoll.

Over the sea were 17 Pink-footed Geese, 29 Wigeon, 20 Teal, 3 Scaup, 90 Common Scoter, 48 Red-throated Diver, a Great Northern Diver, 1 Sooty Shearwater, 3 Manx Shearwater, 88 Gannet, 217 Kittiwake, 210 Little Gull, 43 Mediterranean Gull, 2 Common Tern, 2 Great Skua, 2 Pomarine Skua and 5 Arctic Skua.

Overcast with a chilly F4 westerly.  Watches: 0715-1500.

It was a quieter day, but there was still plenty of migrants about in the area, the WESTERN BONELLI'S WARBLER still giving observers the runabout in the Corwn area, a Hawfinch on Vicars lane, the Eastern type Lesser Whitethroat at the Obs the Water Pipit again by the Crown, a Siberian Chiffchaff at canal scrape, 10 Bearded Tit along the canal, Ring Ouzel at the Point and a Snow Bunting along the canal plus a Jack Snipe, 1 Jay, 18 Chiffchaff, 3 Blackcap, 7 Goldcrest, 120 Blackbird, 275 Redwing, a Fieldfare, 7 Song Thrush, 8 Stonechat, a Wheatear, 3 Grey Wagtail, 25 Brambling and 16 Lesser Redpoll. 

There was again some decent movement over land and sea, the best of which were 20 Whooper Swan after a stop on Beacon ponds, 2 Goosander, a Great Northern Diver, 81 Little Gull, 2 Sandwich Tern, 109 Skylark, 4 Swallow, 2 House Martin, 10 Alba Wagtail, 82 Rock Pipit, 89 Linnet, 26 Redpoll, 514 Goldfinch, 59 Siskin and 31 Reed Bunting.

Kilnsea wetlands among all the usual commoner species had a Caspian Gull, 22 Pintail, 56 Black-tailed Godwit, a Spotted Redshank and 3 Greenshank.

Overcast with sunny spells and a F3 north easterly. Watches: 0700-1230.

There was good numbers of migrants in the area today, especially Starlings, Thrushes and Finches, which were mainly heading north west after a sea crossing, the WESTERN BONELLI'S WARBLER still present, but elusive in the Crown area, 4 Jack Snipe, including one giving crazy views on the Obs pond and a Hawfinch mobile around Kilnsea along with 4 Woodcock, 17 Bearded Tit, 2 Jay, 18 Chiffchaff, a Blackcap, 2 Eastern type Lesser Whitethroat, 10 Goldcrest, 2720 Starling, a Ring Ouzel, 1 Fieldfare, 23 Blackbird, 1508 Redwing, 34 Song Thrush, 3 Mistle Thrush, 9 Grey Wagtail, 19 Robin, 5 Stonechat, an early Water Pipit, 165 Brambling, 29 Siskin, 4 Lesser Redoll and a Snow Bunting.

Sunny spells with scattered showers and aF3-4 north westerly. Watches: 0650-1040.

There was a very good arrival of Thrushes and Finches in the morning and some fantastic totals as birds arrived and headed off north west, the highlight an eventually vocal WESTERN BONELLI'S WARBLER (recording of call on right by Frank Moffatt) along the canal, making its way upto the Kew area where it showed on and off, while a Little Bunting was in Church field flying off north. Migrant totals during the day were impressive with the first Woodcock of the autumn, 3 Jack Snipe, 13 Bearded Tit, 12 Chiffchaff, a Yellow-browed warbler, 4 Blackcap, an Eastern type Lesser Whitethroat, 8 Goldcrest, 1000 Starling, a Fieldfare, 2 Mistle Thrush, a conservative 1574 Redwing, 33 Song Thrush, a Spotted Flycatcher, 5 Stonechat, a Wheatear, 5 Rock Pipit, a minimum of 784 Brambling, 67 Chaffinch, 21 Lesser Redpoll and 12 Siskin.

The best of birds on the mvoe were 12 Whooper Swan, 169 Wigeon, 3 Eider, 2 Goldeneye, 2 Red-breasted Merganser, a Manx Shearwater, 1 Baearic Shearwater, a Great Crested Grebe and 12 Little Gull;

A bright and sunny day with a chilly F3-4 north westerly.  Watches: 0645-1300.

While there were no real stand out species there was still plenty to keep most observers busy despite the chilly wind. Highlights from the day included the first Snow Bunting of the autumn along the canal with 6 Bearded Tit present nearby, 6 Jay around Kilnsea, an Eastern type Lesser Whitethroat in Kilnsea and 11 Barnacle Geese flew south, part of an arrival along the east coast. Otherwise migrant totals remained pretty muc the same with 6 Short-eared Owl, 3 Jack Snipe, 5 Swallow, a Willow Warbler, 12 Chiffchaff, 3 Blackcap, a Lesser Whitethroat, 12 Goldcrest, 1500 Starling, 7 Redwing, 4 Song Thrush,a Redstart, 2 Stonechat, a Wheatear, 2 Grey Wagtail, 4 Rock Pipit, 2 Brambling, 4 Lesser Redpoll, 6 Siskin and 13 Reed Bunting.

A quieter day over both sea and land the best being 950 Pink-footed Geese, 7 Whooper Swan, a Red-breasted Merganser, 1 Great Crested Grebe, 92 Little Gull, 861 Large Auk sp, 12 Jackdaw, 4 Rook, 22 Skylark, 7 Rock Pipit, 4 Lesser Redpoll and 50 Goldfinch.

Thge usual array of species again in the Kilnsea wetlands area with good totals of Wildfowl along with 2 Goosander, 35 Black-tailed Godwit, a Ruff, 1 Curlew Sandpiper, 556 Redshank, 3 Spotted Redshank, 8 Greenshank and 43 Mediterranean Gull. Full counts on Trektellen.

A sunny pleasant day with a F3 northerly.  Watches: 0700-1110.

There was still a scatter of migarnts in the area, a Hawfinch and Yellow-browed Warbler in Easington being new, while the 4 Bearded Tit were along the canal and 10 Jay in the area plus 9 Short-eared Owl, 1- Kestrel, 2 Swallow, 24 Chiffchaff, a Reed Warbler, 7 Blackcap, 2 Whitethroat, 10 Goldcrest, 1200 Starling, 14 Redwing, 27 Song Thrush, a Redstart, 7 Stonechat, a Rock Pipit, 9 Chaffinch, 5 Brambling, 5 Lesser Redpoll and 4 Siskin.

There was some decent movement over the sea which included 1016 Pink-footed Geese, 3 Whooper Swan, 98 Wigeon, 167 Teal, a Tufted Duck, 23 Eider, 171 Common Scoter, 3 Red-breasted Merganser, 114 Red-thoated Diver, a Great Northern Diver, 2 Manx Shearwater, 2 Shag, a Sabines Gull, 5 Sandwich Tern, a Great Skua, 6 Arctic Skua, 70 Razorbill, 55 Guillemot, 1000 Large Auk sp and 2 Puffin, while overland it was quieter with just 12 Skylark, 3 Swallow, 140 Starling, a Grey Wagtail, 3 Alba Wagtail, 9 Meadow Pipit, a Tree Pipit, 4 Rock Pipit, 3 Brambling, 4 Redpoll and 9 Goldfinch.

Othder bits seen today were 2 Pale-bellied Brent along thre canal, 42 Pintail, a Goosander, 23 Black-tailed Godwit, 12 Greenshank, 2 Ruff, 3 Spotted Redshank and a Caspian Gull on Kilnsea wetlands and 5 Eider on the Humber.

A warm and sunny day with a light F2 south easterly.  Watches: 0700-1230.

It was a decent day for the vis-miggers and again a few bits of interest in the bushes including 4 Yellow-browed Warbler, an Eastern type Lesser Whitethroat, 13 Goldcrest, 3 Willow Warbler, 14 Chiffchaff, 13 Blackcap, a Lesser Whitethroat, 16 Redwing, 7 Song Thrush, a Pied Flycathcer, 2 Redstart, 5 Stonechat, 12 Brambling and 2 Lesser Redpoll.

On the ,move were a Marsh Harrier, 5 Lapwing, a Great Spotted Woodpecker, 5 Blue Tit, 16 Great Tit, 214 Skylark, 20 Swallow, 10 House Martin, 160 Tree Sparrow, 7 Dunnock, a Grey Wagtail, 18 Alba Wagtail, 246 Meadow Pipit, 26 Rock Pipit, 33 Chaffinch, 20 Greenfinch, a Twite, 668 Linnet, 2 Redpoll, 1185 Goldfinch, 12 Siskin, 2 Yellowhammer and 136 Reed Bunting. The best of the sea were 262 Wigeon, 8 Pintail, 142 Teal, 3 Tufted Duck, 5 Eider, 2 Red-breasted Merganser and 13 Little Gull. 

The best of the rest were 13 Short-eared Owl, 3 Pale-bellied Brent on the Humber along with the hybrid Black Brant x Brent Goose.

Early morning fog, cleared to leave a warm sunny day with a light f3 south easterly.  Watches: 0645-1150.

There were still decent numbers of migrants about and even maybe some small numbers of new arrivals, the first 2 Bearded Tit of the autumn along the canal the highlight plus 3 Swallow, 5 House Martin, 3 Cetti's Warbler, 21 Chiffchaff, a Siberian Chiffchaff, 2 Yellow-browed Warbler in the Obs garden, 7 Blackcap, 2 Whitethroat, 9 Goldcrest, 700 Starling, a Ring Ouzel, 3 Fieldfare, 14 Redwing, 9 Song Thrush, a Spotted Flycatcher, 34 Robin, a Redstart, 1 Whinchat, 7 Stonechat, 2 Grey Wagtail, a Brambling, 1 Siskin and 16 Reed Bunting.

There was again some southerly push of Passerines, but not as strong as previous days with 2 Jay, 201 Skylark, 8 Swallow, a Flava Wagtail, 1 Grey Wagtail, 5 Alba Wagtail, 22 Meadow Pipit, 42 Rock Pipit, 13 Chaffinch, a Twite, 80 Linnet, 28 Lesser Redpoll, 357 Goldfinch, a Siskin and 26 Reed Bunting.

Kilnsea wetlands held some good totals of species the best being 34 Pintail, 81 Little Egret and 20 Mediterranean Gull along with an Avocet and 1 Ruff, among all the usual species..

A bright and sunny day with a F3-4 south westerly.  Watches: 0630-1200.

Sadly there was a clearout of many migrants, given the nice previous evenings weather, followed by overnight clear skies, but a Yellow-browed Warbler was nice in Church field. with further totals of a Jay, 7 Swallow, 18 House Martin, 19 Chiffchaff, a Reed Warbler, 3 Blackcap, a Lesser Whitethroat, 1 Whitethroat, 14 Goldcrest, 500 Starling, 70 Redwing, 4 Song Thrush, a Whinchat, 12 Stonechat, 2 Wheatear, 26 Dunnock, a Yellow Wagtail, 10 Rock Pipit and 18 Brambling.

The highlight of the day was a big push of south bound Passerines past the Warren, with a Collared Dove, 5 Jackdaw, 525 Skylark, 3 Sand Martin, 71 Swallow, 66 House Martin, 110 Starling, 33 Redwing, 3 Song Thrush, a Mistle Thrush, 25 House Sparrow, 150 Tree Sparrow, 5 Grey Wagtail, 19 Alba Wagtail, 387 Meadow Pipit, a Tree Pipit, 24 Rock Pipit, 214 Chaffinch, 2 Brambling, 57 Greenfinch, 1210 Linnet, 9 Lesser Redpoll, 3220 Goldfinch, 16 Siskin, 7 Yellowhammer and 209 Reed Bunting.

Other sightings included 780 Pink-footed Geese blogging about the Humber, 3 Tufted Duck and 3 Spotted Redshank on Kilnsea wetlands and 3 Pale-bellied Brents along the Canal.

A cool damp morning with a strong F6 north westerly slowly gave way to sunshine and a light northerly. Watches: 0625-1445.

The weather while not classic, did give some hope of an arrival with strong easterlies across the north sea, but north west over the western side. Arrivals of birds were evident soon after first light as Brambling and Redwing arrived from the sea, the autumn which upto now had been quiet, burst into life and soon after the bushes were alive with their calls. The Warren initailly recieved planty of attention, as first a Little Bunting was found 'tiking' in the Warren trap and soon after a Hawfinch here and a Red-breasted Flycatcher appeared in Canal bushes. A Firecrest was next at Middle camp and maybe a bit of relief when 2 Yellow-browed Warbler (canal hedge, Easington) appeared, considerably later than expected. The Warren again came to life with an OLIVE-BACKED PIPIT, which after a fly about settled in a Kilnsea garden. Further migrant totals were a Short-eared Owl in/off, 5 Jack Snipe, 7 Jay, 7 Willow Warbler, 58 Chiffchaff, 2 Siberian Chiffchaff, 3 Reed Warbler, 2 Grasshopper Warbler, 18 Blackcap, a Garden Warbler, 2 Lesser Whitethroat, a Whitethroat, 16 Goldcrest, 5 Rock Pipit, a Tree Pipit, 1 Yellow Wagtail, 3 Ring Ouzel, 50 Blackbird, 4 Fieldfare, 603 Redwing, 41 Song Thrush, a Mistle Thrush, 1 Spotted Flycatcher, 2 Pied Flycatcher, 23 Robin, 2 Redstart, 3 Whinchat, 9 Stonechat, a Wheatear, 46 Chaffinch, 297 Brambling, 2 Lesser Redpoll, 69 Siskin and 19 Reed Bunting.

Sunny with showers and a F5 south westerly.  Watches: 0600-1315.

It was a great morning for the vis miggers at the Warren, with the best count of Linnet since 1968, along with good totals of Skylark, Meadow Pipit and other Finches, 2 Marsh Harrier, a Snipe, 4 Great Tit, 209 Skylark, 21 Swallow, 2 House Martin, 37 House Sparrow, 100 Tree Sparrow, 4 Dunnock, 9 Grey Wagtail, 13 Alba Wagtail, 1026 Meadow Pipit, 10 Rock Pipit, 50 Chaffinch, 7 Brambling, 38 Greenfinch, 2610 Linnet, 2102 Goldfinch, 46 Siskin and 115 Reed Bunting, while the best of the sea, 119 Pink-footed Geese, 2 Pintail, 89 Red-throated Diver, a Great Northern Diver, 888 Little Gull, 8 Sandwich Tern and 111 Large Auk sp.

The calmer morning allowed for better cointing of migrants, but did little to boost any totals with 2 Jack Snipe, a Cetti's Warbler, 1 Willow Warbler, 15 Chiffchaff, 3 Blackcap, a Whitethroat, 8 Goldcrest, 1 Song Thrush, a Redstart, 1 Whinchat, 6 Stonechat, 3 Wheatear, 5 Yellow Wagtail and a Brambling.

 Kilnsea wetlands as uasual held 366 Wigeon, the Chiloe Wigeon, 15 Pintail, 151 Teal, 36 Little Egret, 25 Black-tailed Godwit, 5 Ruff, a Little Stint, 1 Common Sandpiper, 3 Spotted Redshank, 14 Greenshank, 14 Mediterranean Gull and a ringed Caspian Gull. The best of the rest were 3 Pale-bellied Brent on the HUmber along with 272 Curlew

A sunny start, clouding over with a bustery F6 south westerly.  Watches: 0620-1245.

It was another day of birds on the move, but less than yesterday 4 Marsh Harrier, 3 Jay, 12 Rook, 95 Skylark, 4 Swallow, 98 House Sparrow, 22 Tree Sparrow, 4 Grey Wagtail, 6 Alba Wagtail, 413 Meadow Pipit, 4 Rock Pipit, 11 Chaffinch, 20 Greenfinch, 432 Linnet, 199 Goldfinch, 29 Siskin and 25 Reed Bunting, while the best of the sea were 2 Pale-bellied Brent, 354 Gannet, 342 Little Gull, 9 Sandwich Tern, a Common Tern, an Arctic Tern and 10 Arctic Skua.

Migrant numbers remained steady with a Turtle Dove hanging out with 41 Collared Dove by Willow cottage and the Ring Ouzel still in the traingle plus 9 Chiffchaff, a Blackcap, 2 Song Thrush, a Whinchat, 6 Stonechat, 5 Wheatear, a Yellow Wagtail, 1 Rock Pipit, 10 Chaffinchand a Lesser Redpoll. 

The german ringed Caspian Gull was again on Kilnsea wetlands, not being present recently, while aslo here 230 Wigeon, the Chiloe Wigeon, 130 Teal, 30 Black-tailed Godwit, 2 Ruff, a Common Sandpiper, 2 Spotted Redshank and 7 Greenshank.

Ringing: 1 Chiffchaff, 1 Wren, 2 Robin.

A cool day with sunny spells  in the morning, gave way to a wind driven down pour in the afternoon with a F6 southerly. Watches: 0635-1830.

It was a day of movement over land and sea which produced some interesting sightings and counts. The highlight of the sea was a close in Leach's Petrel flying north, lingering off the Bluebell. Heavy rain and a strong wind with poor visibilty drove a good mix of species into the Humber and watching from the comfort of the Obs bedroom window, birds heading back towards the sea were counted with 2 juvenile Sabines Gull the highlight, along with 557 Little Gull, 53 Kittiwake. 7 Arctic Skua, 3 Great Skua, 2 Long-tailed Skua, 2 Manx Shearwater, 4 Red-throated Diver and 100+ Gannet, while the 2 Scaup were still present.

The Ring Ouzel was again at the Warren and Kilnsea wetlands again had the Caspian Gull and Spotted Redshank. Full details to come.

Early morning rain followed by sunshine and F4 south westerly. Watches: 0635-1325.

Migrants were still low in numbers, but a nice selection were present with a Jack Snipe, 1 Cetti’s Warbler, 18 Chiffchaff, a Blackcap, 4 Goldcrest, 30 Starling, a Ring Ouzel, 3 Song Thrush, 4 Stonechat, 4 Wheatear, a Grey Wagtail and 15 Pied Wagtail.

Quiet over the sea with the best being 42 Pink-footed Geese, 12 Wigeon, 21 Kittiwake, 4 Sandwich Tern, 3 Common Tern, an Arctic Skua, 17 Razorbill and 41 Large Auk sp. 

Kilnsea wetlands had a good selection of species along with 139 Wigeon, the Chiloe Wigeon, 50 Pintail, 39 Black-tailed Godwit, 2 Ruff, a Common Sandpiper, 1 Spotted Redshank, 5 Greenshank, a Caspian Gull and 34 Mediterranean Gull.

Ringing: 1 Chiffchaff, 1 Goldcrest, 1 Chaffinch.
