An interesting mix of species included the first Willow Warbler and 2 Bearded Tits of the year and a Crossbill in Easington with the Cetti's Warbler still singing  at the Point.. The day also saw a Hooded Crow fly south and a Red Kite wandering the area. Full details to come.

A nice sunny day with a light to moderate south westerly.  Watches: 0650-1005, 1345-1410.

The pace of migrant arrivals intenisfied with nice combined totals of 3 Sand Martin, 48 Chiffchaff, 7 Goldcrest, 8 Fieldfare, 13 Redwing, 2 Stonechat, the first Ring Ouzel of the spring in Kilnsea, 6 Black Redstart (2 in song), 27 Wheatear, 2 Bullfinch, a Brambling and the Cetti's Warbler still at the Point.

On the move were a male Hen Harrier, 2 Stock Dove, 3 Magpie, 32 Jackdaw, 37 Rook, 71 Carrion Crow, 3 Sand Martin, 3 Swallow, 5 Skylark, a House Saprrow, 1 Grey Wagtail, 6 Alba Wagtail, 32 Meadow Pipit, 9 Chaffinch, 3 Greenfinch, 55 Linnet, 24 Goldfinch, 4 Siskin, 2 Yellowhammer and 7 Reed Bunting. The best of the sea was a fantastic 1144 Pink-footed Geese which flew north west though little else of note was seen.

A Great White Egret was on Kilnsea wetlands early morning then flew west up the Humber, the Whooper Swan re-appeared on Easington straight along with 3 Pale-bellied Brent among 340 Dark-bellied Brent.

Ringing: 4 Chiffchaff, 1 Blackbird, 1 Redwing, 1 Wheatear, 1 Wren, 1 Goldfinch, 3 Linnet.

A bright sunny day, warm out of the continuing strong south westerly.  Watches: 0700-1200.

The nicer weather overall, with reduced wind encouraged some decent overland movement, while migrants arrived (or at least became easier to see?). The first Swallow of the year flew south (they always do), along with a good total of 318 Chaffinch. Also moving were a Collared Dove, 15 Wood Pigeon, 75 Jackdaw, 63 Rook, 16 Carrion Crow, 3 Skylark, 54 Starling, a House Sparrow, 20 Alba Wagtail, 231 Meadow Pipit (209 NW over sea), 2 Greenfinch, 91 Linnet, 13 Goldfinch, 2 Siskin, a Yellowhammer and 5 Reed Bunting.

A Cetti's Warbler singing at the Point, was the first in this location, since Spurn first ever record on 30th April 1988. Other migrants included 3 Sand Martin, 12 Chiffchaff, 2 Goldcrest, 2 Fieldfare, a Song Thrush, 1 Stonechat, 18 Wheatear, 9 Pied Wagtail, 4 White Wagtail and 34 Chaffinch.

The 5 White-fronted Geese re-appeared yet again in the triangle. 183 Brent Geese were on the Humber along with 66 Shelduck, 21 Little Egret in the area and 12 Black-tailed Godwit on Kilnsea wetlands. 

Ringing: 1 Chiffchaff, 5 Chaffinch.

A cloudy wild day, the odd sunny spell  and a fierce gale force south westerly.  Watches: 0715-1000.

Despite the condiotions better weather is apparently just around the corner, hopefully leading to a big push of migrants through the region. In the meantime there are still 5 Wheatear by the gas terminal and 6 Chiffchaff scattered about finding sheletered areas.

The sea had 3 Brent Geese, 5 Eider, 7 Common Scoter, 2 Red-breasted Merganser, 15 Red-throated Diver, a Fulmar, 1 Great Crested Grebe, 4 Gannet, 3 Oystercatcher, 19 Balck-headed Gull and 7 Auk sp.

The kilnsea wetlands area held 277 Brent Geese, 27 Shoveler, 8 Gadwall, 51 Wigeon, 7 Teal, 2 Tufetd Duck, 6 Avocet and 6 Black-tailed Godwit.

A mild day of sunny spells and a F6 south westerly.  Watches: 0630-0920, 1050-1200.

Just the odd migrant about the best being 2 Wheatear, singles of Fieldfare and Redwing, 28 Chaffinch and 5 Siskin.

Some light movementoverland  included 6 Pink-footed Geese north west, a Common Buzzard, 4 Jackdaw, 13 Rook, 6 Carrion Crow, 11 Tree Sparrow and 12 Chaffinch, while over the sea 12 Common Scoter, 30 Red-throated Diver, 9 Gannet, 5 Cormorant, a Shag, 22 Black-headed Gull, 175 Herring Gull, 2 Lesser Black-backed Gull, a Great Skua and 8 Auk sp..

Heavy rain and a strong south westerly in the morning gave way to heavy showers and sunny spells and the wind moderating. Watches: 0620-0920.

The conditions did little for getting observers out looking for migrants, well not until the afternoon anyway with totals of 7 Chiffhcaff, 2 Goldcrest, 2 Fieldfare, 4 Redwing, a Song Thrush, 4 Wheatear, 55 Meadow Pipit and 3 Siskin.

The relative saferty of the seawatch hide had 6 Shoveler, 2 Pintail, 2 Eider, 3 Common Scoter, 3 Red-breasted Merganser, 45 Red-throated Diver, a Fulmar, 9 Gannet, 5 Cormorant, 24 Black-headed Gull, 6 Guillemot and 5 Auk sp.

The Kilnsa wetlands area highlights included 3 Pale-bellied Brent among 307 Dark-bellied Brent and 2 Tufted Duck, among much reduced Wildfowl totals with just 50 Wigeon and 20 Teal remianing.

Ringing: 1 Chaffinch, 1 Siskin, 1 Redd Bunting.

A nice sunny day, some cloud in the afternnon and a breezy south westerly.  Watches: 0620-0920.

There was a bit of a clearout of some migrants, with few Thrushes, but some new bits arrived too with totals of 11 Chiffchaff, a Firecrest, 6 Goldcrest, a Fieldfare, 1 Redwing, 6 Song Thrush, a Black Redstart at the Point, 2 Wheatear, 91 Meadow Pipit and a Brambling. 

Moving today were 2 Red Kite, 46 Jackdaw, 26 Rook, 11 Carrion Crow, a Skylark, 4 Alba Wagtail, 2 Medow Piipit, 14 Chaffinch, 3 Greenfinch, 20 Linnet, 8 Goldfinch, 6 Siskin and a Yellowhammer, while over the sea 213 Pink-footed Geese, 20 Common Scoter, 19 Cormorant and a Puffin were the best of some meagre offerings.

The best of Kilnsea wetlands were a Pintail, 3 Tufted Duck, 10 Avocet, 5 Black-tailed Godwit and a Greenshank.

Ringing: 2 Chiffchaff, 1 Tree Sparrow, 1 Great Tit, 1 Wren, 1 Dunnock, 3 Chaffinch.

Overcast start, clearing to leave a nice sunny day with a moderate south westerly.  Watvches: 0625-1000;

A small arrival of grounded migrants today brought our first, 2 Wheatear of the spring to the Point and a Firecrest to Churchfield, along with 26 Chiffchaff, 9 Goldcrest, 2 White Wagtail canal scrape, 25 Blackbird, 23 Fieldfare (18 south off the Point), 31 Redwing, 5 Stonechat, a Brambling and 2 Siskin.

Movement overland was limited to 21 Jackdaw, 12 Rook, 22 Carrion Crow, 151 Starling, 4 Alba Wagtail, 19 Chaffinch, a Ssikin and 4 Linnet, with the sea fairing little better with 3 Eider and 4 Curlew out east.

The Whooper Swan remained in the Kilnsea wetlands area along with the 2 Tufted Duck and 2 Greenshank.

Ringing: 4 Chiffchaff, 1 Goldcrest, 1 Firecrest, 3 Blackbird, 1 Redwing, 5 Chaffinch, 3 Goldfinch, 1 Linnet.

After an overcast start, it was aday of sunny spells and a light south westerly.  Watches: 0630-1000, 1430-1600.

There was a small, but welcome increase in migrant numbers with the first Sand Martin, flying south and grounded birds included a Woodcock, 1 White Wagtail at Easington lagoon, 20 Chiffchaff, 16 Goldcrest, 3 Fieldfare, 11 Redwing, 5 Song Thrush, 19 Pied Wagtail, 17 Chaffinch and a Brambling.

There was a pick up in birds heading south with a Red Kite, 1 Sparrowhawk, a Stock Dove, 25 Jackdaw, 5 Rook, 453 Starling, 4 Redwing, 5 Alba Wagtail, 30 Meadow Pipit, a Rock Pipit, 36 Chaffinch, 19 Linnet, 9 Goldfinch, 4 Siskin and 2 Reed Bunting, while over the sea, 118 Pink-footed Geese north west, 2 Shelduck, 3 Eider, 16 Common Scoter, 16 Red-throated Diver, a Great Northen Diver, a record count of 9 Great Crested Grebe (which has stood since the 17th May 1964), 2 Cormorant, 7 Oystercatcher, 4 Curlew out east and 13 Guillemot. 

Other sightings were mainly from the Kilnsea wetlands area with the Whooper Swan still remaining, 59 Teal, 2 Tufted Duck, a drake Goosander, 4 Black-tailed Godwit, 2 Greenshank and 12 Avocet, with the 2 Peregrine still around the gas terminal.

Ringing: 1 Woodcock, 3 Great Tit, 1 Chiffchaff, 6 Blackbird, 2 Redwing, 1 Robin, 1 Chaffinch.

A mild sunny day with a light westerly.  Watches: 0625-1000.

Spurn finally got on the act with 14 Whooper Swans which dropped onto Beacon ponds with the single still present on Kilnsea wetlands (hopefully it departs with the flock). The 5 White-fronted Geese put in an appaearance again on Kilnsea wetlands with decent numbers of Wildfowl still present including 21 Shoveler, 305 Wigeon, 52 Teal and 2 Tufted Duck. Further sightings in the area were 2 Greenshank, 3 Black-tailed Godwit, 10 Avocet and a Red Kite wandering from Kilnsea to Sammies. 

Slim pickings for migrants recorded included a Woodcock, 5 Snipe, a Chiffchaff, 6 Goldcrest, 40000 Starling, 26 Blackbird and 3 Siskin.

The condiotions seemed to encourage a bit more southerly movement in the morning with 169 Pink-footed Geese north, a Sparrowhawk, 2 Curlew out east, 13 Wood Pigeon, 46 Jackdaw, 18 Rook, 325 Starling, 5 Fieldfare, 2 Redwing, a Grey Wagtail, 1 Alba Wagtail, 24 Meadow Pipit, a Rock Pipit, 4 Chaffinch, 21 Linnet, a Siskin and 2 Goldfinch, while over the sea 4 Common Scoter, 12 Red-throated Diver, a Great Crested Grebe, 2 Gannet, 13 Cormorant and a Guillemot.. 

Ringing: 2 Starling, 4 Blackbird, 2 Goldcrest, 5 Chaffinch, 1 Greenfinch, 6 Linnet.

A unnyy day, warm out of the light north westerly.  Watches: 0630-0930.

Despite the sunny weather there is still little happening on the migration front, as the northerlies continue to dominate. A change to more southerly type winds would come as a nice change and encourage a northbound push and maybe a summer migrant ot two. The best of the sea were 2 Eider, a Velvet Scoter, 9 Common Scoter, 23 Red-throated Diver, 9 Gannet, 2 Oystercatcher, 3 Guillemot and an Auk sp. Overland it was tough going with 18 Jackdaw, 2 Rook, an Alba Wagtail, 3 Meadow Pipit, 7 Chaffinch, 35 Linnet and a Goldfinch.

The best of the other sightings were 80 Pintail at Sammies, 122 Carrion Crow on Green lane and 2 Peregrine hanging about the gas terminal.

Ringing: 1 Great Tit, 2 Blackbird, 1 Dunnock, 2 Chaffinch.1 Greenfinch.

Overcast with afternoon sunny spells and a F3-4 north westerly.  Watches: 0630-0945.

Movement over the sea 140 Pink-footed Geese, 2 Greylag Geese, 9 Wigeon, 17 Common Scoter, 3 Eider, 3 Great Crested Grebe, 8 Gannet, 7 Cormorant, 12 Curlew out east, 9 Guillemot, a Puffin and 10 Auk sp, while overland 52 Jackdaw, 8 Rook, 16 Carrion Crow, a Pied Wagtail and 1 Siskin. 

Migrants were mainly those gathering before heading off east back to the continent with 2 Short-eared Owl, 2 Chiffchaff, 3 Goldcrest, 54 Blackbird, 4 Song Thrush, a Redwing, 1 Stonechat, 2000 Starling, 11 Pied Wagtail, 83 Chaffinch and a Siskin.

Other bits of note were the Black Brant present with 2 Pale-bellied Brent among 236 Brent Geese and 88 Pintail at Sammy's, 2 Goldeneye on Kilnsea wetlands and a Corn Bunting singing in Churchfield.

A foggy day only clearing by late afternoon, when the sun made an appearance with a light northerly. Watches: 0630-0930.

Maybe the first migrant Black Redstart of the year was by the Gas terminal, though few other signs to get hopes up. There was an increase in Thrush numbers with 70 Blackbird, 4 Fieldfare, 29 Redwing and 6 Song Thrush as they ready themselves for another North Sea crossing.

The breeding dress Great White Egret spent the day in the Kilnsea wetlands to canal scrape area, while the Black Brant was on the Humber at Sammies along with 133 Brent Geese. The Whooper Swan was on Kilnsea wetlands and a small Duck influx overnight here, brought a Pochard and an increase to 5 Tufted Duck along with 5 Goldeneye on the Humber.

Movement over the sea was poor the best being 18 Red-throated Diver and 2 Fulmar with 4 Curlew out east. Overland it was quiet too with just 8 Jackdaw, a Rook, a Chaffinch and 25 Linnet.

Ringing: 2 Great Tit, 2 Blackbird, 2 Redwing, 4 Chaffinch, 9 Linnet, 1 Reed Bunting.

A chilly day with showers in the morning and a moderate north westerly.  Watches: 0635-0935.

It was a similar day to the previous with the 5 White-fronted Geese and Black Brant on Kilnsea wetlands and the Whooper Swan nearby on Easington straight. Duck numbers on Kilnsea wetlands have dropped off from the winter highs, but still decent counts are being made with 23 Shoveler, 359 Wigeon, 43 Tea, 2 Tufted Duck and 2 Goldeneye.

Movement today saw a Great White Egret north over the Obs, 32 Common Scoter, 2 Red-breasted Merganser, a Goosander, 49 Red-throated Diver, 2 Great Crested Grebe, 10 Gannet, 2 Kittiwake, 14 Guillemot and 6 Auk sp, while some Passerines were moving into the north westerly, including 3 Rock Pipit, 70 Chaffinch, 6 Linnet and 2 Snow Bunting.

Other bits of note were a Woodcock chased by a Peregrine by the Gas terminal and 2 Short-eared Owl along the canal.

Ringing: 1 Chiffchaff, 3 Blackbird, 9 Chaffinch, 1 Goldfinch, 3 Siskin.

Rain in the morning gave way to sunny spells with light winds.  Watches: 0630-1000.

Highlights from today included a Red-necked Grebe south over the sea at the Warren, 5 White-fronted Geese again on Kilnsea wetlands, the Whooper Swan on Easington straight and the Black Brant still present with 2 Pale-bellied Brent. Other bits on KIlnsea wetlands were 15 Shoveler, 8 Gadwall, 277 Wigeon, 49 Teal, 2 Tufted Duck, 2 Goldeneye, 11 Avocet, 4 Black-tailed Godwit, 1 Greenshank. and a Short-eared Owl.

Moving over the sea were an Eider, 2 Common Scoter, 34 Red-throated Diver, a Great Northern Diver, 2 Great Crested Grebe, 8 Gannet, 11 Black-headed Gull, the frist Great Skua of the year and 13 Guillemot.

Ringing: 5 Long-tailed Tit, 1 Blue Tit, 2 Great Tit, 1 Blackbird, 1 Chaffinch, 1 Siskin, 1 Goldfinch.

Light rain with sunny spells with a F4-6 north westerly.  Watches: 0630-1000, 1535-1640.

Migrant wise its still a bit slow going for arrivals with just 3 Chiffchaff widely scattered, 2 Goldcrest and 3 Siskin, with only a Fieldfare and 1 Redwing recorded for departing Thrushes.

The Black Brant is still present at Kilnsea wetlands along with a Pale-bellied Brent, the 5 White-fronted Geese and the Whooper Swan, along with the 2 Tufted Duck and 2 Goldeneye.

Moving were 2 Wigeon, 10 Common Scoter, 2 Red-breasted Merganser, 28 Red-throated Diver, 2 Great Crested Grebe on the sea, 2 Shag, 44 Kittiwake and 5 Auk sp, while overland 12 Jackdaw, 280 Starlng, 4 Meadow Pipit and 12 Linnet.

Ringing: 2 Great Tit, 1 Goldcrest, 1 Dunnock, 2 Chaffinch, 3 Goldfinch, 3 Siskin.

A sunny day, but cold in the moderate north westerly.  Watches: 0630-0930.

There was a noticeable increase in Great Tits in the area, and some movement noted at the Warren. Hopefully we eill see some good mornings of them heading south.The best of todays sightings were in the Kilnsea wetlands area with the 5 White-fronted Geese joined by a Barnacle Goose, which then moved into the triangle, the Whooper Swan still nearby and the Black Brant still present with 610 Dark-bellied Brents. There was aslo an impressive count of 25 Shoveler, while the 2 Tufted Duck remained along with 2 Goldeneye, 10 Gadwall, 345 Wigeon, 66 Teal and 14 Mallard.

The beginnings of overland movement of Common Scoter was noted overnight with a flock detected at around 10pm over Easington. The sea was quiet again with just 24 Common Scoter, 17 Red-throated Diver, a Fulmar, 1 Great Crested Grebe on the sea, 10 Gannet, 3 Cormorant, 3 Kittiwake, 7 Guillemot and 4 Auk sp, while overland it waa quiet too with 62 Wood Pigeon, 5 Magpie, 8 Jackdaw, 21 Rook, 3 Carrion Crow, 4 Great Tit, a Starling and 3 Chaffinch.

Ringing: 6 Great Tit, 1 Redwing, 1 Chaffinch, 1 Linnet.

A good varied day of sightings so far, highlights being a Woodlark at Easington playing fields, 2 Lapland Bunting and a Red Kite heading south at the Warren, 4 Tundra Bean Geese east over Easington and a Hen Harrier along Green Lane. The 5 White-fronted Geese put in another apearance for the WEBS count and the Black Brant is again pressnt with a hybrid juvenile.

Over the sea 2 Velvet Scoter went south.

Sunny spells with showers with a continued strong westerly.  Watches: 0635-1220.

Little moving over the sea with 2 Mallard, a Teal, 2 Eider, 19 Common Scoter, 12 Red-throated Diver, 49 Gannet, 4 Cormroant, 32 Black-headed Gull, 152 Herring Gull, a Lesser Black-backed Gull and 5 Guillemot, a Common Buzzard the only south bound overland migrant.

The Black Brant was on Kilnsea wetland with 2 Pale-bellied Brent among 514 Brents, with decent totals of 16 Shoveler and 8 Gadwall with 2 Tufted Duck and 2 Goldeneye remaining. The Whooper Swan was still present nearby on Easington straight.

Sunshine and showers with a blustery south westerly.  Watches: 0640-1000, 1500-1630.

Seemingly decent conditions for movement saw a bit of both over sea and land, witht hte first small push of Chaffinch and a trickle of Duck over the sea with 2 White-fronted Geese, 3 Shelduck,6 Wigeon, 5 Pintail, 2 Mallard, an Eider, 5 Common Scoter, 2 Goldeneye, 29 Red-throated Diver, 25 Gannet, 1 Dunlin, 99 Black-headed Gull, 161 Common Gull, 138 Herring Gull, 5 Guillemot, a Razorbilland 6 Auk sp. Overland movement was quiet with 2 Carrion Crow, a Rook, 3 Jackdaw, 3 Starling in/off, 31 Chaffinch, a Linnet and 1 Lapland Bunting.

In the Kilnsea wetlands area were the Whooper Swan, 10 Gadwall, 410 Wigeon, 4 Pintail, 30 Teal, 2 Tufted Duck, a Goldeneye, 1 Avocet, 15 Black-tailed Godwit, a Greenshank and 2 Mediterranean Gull.

Ringing: 1 Blackbird, 2 Redwing, 7 Chaffinch.

Sunny spells with rain and even hail with the gale force south westerlies continuing.  Watches: 0640-1000, 1300-1600.

The highlight of the day were 5 White-fronted Geese on Kilnsea wetlands, appearing to be the same birds last seen on the 24th January, when there were six. There wasa fantastic count of 1400 Brent Geese, but just 1 Pale-bellied Goose was located on the flock along with a Whooper Swan. Counts from Kilnsea wetlands included 19 Shoveler, 400 Wigeon, 30 Teal, 2 Goldeneye, 11 Black-tailed Godwit, 250 Redshank, a Greenshank, 2 Mediterranean Gull and 2 Rock Pipit, one having a green colour ring with white lettering. Migrants were present in low numbers with 3 Woodcock, 10 Redwing and 3 Bullfinch.

Moving over the sea were a Wigeon, 2 Mallard, 2 Pintail, 4 Eider, 6 Common Scoter, 12 Red-throated Diver, 3 Fulmar, 21 Gannet, 2 Cormorant, 8 Dunlin, a Kittiwake, 78 Common Gull, a Lesser Black-backed Gull in/off, 11 Guillemot and 8 Auk sp.

A horrible day of driving rain with a strong blustery westerly.  Watches: 0700-0930.

It was a difficult day in the conditions, the best being 2 Whooper Swan and 2 Goldeneye in the Kilnsea wetlands area, among the usual species. 

On the move were 5 Teal, 32 Common Scoter, 5 Gannet, 10 Curlew, 3 Bar-tailed Godwit, 2 Knot, a Kittiwake and 15 Guillemot.

Overcast giving way to sunny spells and a moderate westerly.  Watches: 0630-0945.

The best of todays visible migration saw an early Little-ringed Plover fly south along with 16 Rook, 12 Jackdaw, 8 Skylark, a Grey Wagtail, 6 Alba Wagtail, 23 Starling, 11 Meadow Pipit, 2 Chaffinch, 5 Greenfinch, 6 Linnet, 4 Yellowhammer and a Reed Bunting. The sea was quieter with just a Wigeon, 3 Pintail, 13 Eider, 10 Common Scoter, 27 Red-throated Diver, 2 Great Crested Grebe, 5 Gannet and 2 Cormorant, while flying out east were 9 Curlew and 7 Bar-tailed Godwit.

The Black Brant remained and seen to be escorting a juvenile intergrade with the adult intergrade also present, while the flock of 500 Brents also held 6 Pale-bellied Brent. Neaby the adult Whooper Swan remained, while Kilnsea wetlands showed little change with 15 Shoveler, 2 Tufted Duck and 3 Goldeneye among all the usuals. There were few migrants recorded today, the best being 3 Fieldfare, 5 Song Thrush, a Bullfinchnand 1 Siskin.

A grey wet miserable day with a moderate westerly.  Watches: 0650-0930.

There were increases in grounded 'exoding' migrants in the area, with Blackbird in particular being noticeable, (while we wait for the first arrivals of Firecrest, Black Redstart and Wheatear). Today saw 2 Jack Snipe, 8 Snipe, 4 Woodcock, 2 Short-eared Owl, 55 Blackbird, 6 Song Thrush, a Fieldfare and a Bullfinch recorded. 

There was not unsuprisngly much moving due to the weather, but a Red Kite braved the conditions, heading out towards Lincolnshire, while the sea faired little better with the best being just 8 Wigeon, 18 Teal, 4 Common Scoter and a Shag

The Kilnsea wetlands area had as usual the adult Black Brant, 3 Pale-bellied Brent, the adult Whooper Swan, 2 Tufted Duck and 2 Goldeneye.

Cloudy start soon gave way to blue skies and sun with a light north westerly.  Watches: 0645-1200.

There was a great count of 1069 Dark-bellied Brent around Kilnsea wetlands, the flock containing a Black Brant and 3 Pale-bellied Brent and the Whooper Swan remained nearby. Kilnsea wetlands also held 14 Shoveler, 6 Gadwall, 399 Wigeon, 36 Teal, 3 Goldeneye and 2 Greenshank.

There was an improved showing of overland migration with a Red Kite that headed back north west along with 2 Snipe, a Stock Dove, 4 Magpie, 28 Rook, 4 Carrion Crow, 8 Jackdaw, 8 Skylark, 44 Starling, an Alba Wagtail, 2 Meadow Pipit, 5 Chaffinch, a Greenfinch, a Lapland Bunting and 3 Reed Bunting, with the best of the sea being 3 Wigeon, 4 Teal and a Shag.

Other noteworthy bits included 6 Common Buzzard over Easington, 2 Grey Partridge in Kilnsea, 2 Woodcock recorded and 17 Meadow Pipit.

A chilly overcast day with light winds.  Watches:0645-1015.

Highlights from the day included a 2cy Glaucous Gull at Kilnsea wetlands that eventually flew south past the seawatch hide, a Long-eared Owl and 60 Pintail at Sammies, the Whooper Swan along with a Black Brant and 3 Pale-bellied Brent among 300 Brent Geese on Easington straight. 

Typically quiet over the sea with just 3 Eider, 14 Common Scoter, 48 Red-throated Diver, 8 Cormorant, a Shag, 1 Curlew out east, 2 Guillemot, a Razorbill and 4 Auk sp. Overland the first signs of southerly movement of Finches albeit in very small numbers, 5 Carrion Crow, 2 Rook, 3 Skylark, 2 Meadow Pipit, a Bullfinch, 4 Chaffinch, 2 Goldfinch and a Greenfinch.

Other sightings included 6 Avocet on Easington lagoon, 1330 Oystercatcher on the Humber and a Short-eared Owl at Sammies.

Ringing: 1 Robin, 1 Goldfinch, 2 Linnet.

A chilly wet morning sunny spells from late morning with the contiued modarate north easterly.  Watches: 0700-1000.

The Black Brant made a re-appearance on Kilnsea wetlands, the flock of 536 Dark-bellied Brents also holding 2 Pale-bellied Brent and an adult Black Brant x Brent intergrade. A Jack Snipe was nearby on Beacon ponds, with the immediate area decent numbers of Wildfowl with the Whooper Swan, 13 Shoveler, 4 Gadwall, 447 Wigeon, a Pintail, 16 Mallard and 4 Goldeneye. 

There was a nice total of 16 Stonechat, a typcally early spring migarnt throught the area, but few other signs of spring. Other sightings from the area were a Short-eared Owl at Sammies and 2400 Knot on the Humber.

The best of movement over the sea were 5 Eider, 4 Common Scoter, a Fulmar and 6 Kittiwake.

Overcast with sunny spells with the continued cold modarate north easterly.  Watches: 0655-1000.

With the cold north easterly set in place, the arrival of spring on the coast last week is a distant memory and with it, little change in the birds present. The Whooper Swan was again on Easington straight and the best of the KIlnsea wetlands area were 2 Tufted Duck, 3 Goldeneye, 360 Redshank, a Greenshank and 11 Black-tailed Godwit. Nearby 295 Curlew were on Long bank, while a Woodcock hung on at the Point.

Moving over the sea were 5 Wigeon, 6 Eider, 6 Common Scoter, a Goldeneye, 50 Red-throated Diver, 2 Gannet, 4 Cormorant, 19 Guillemot, a Razorbill and 12 Auk sp.

Ringing: 1 Blackbird, 2 Goldfinch.

A damp, dull and grey day with the cool light north easterly remaining.  Watches: 0655-0935.

The best of the day were 3 Long-tailed Duck heading north past the seawatch hide, while also recorded were 4 Wigeon, 2 Mallard, 2 Teal, 5 Common Scoter, 69 Red-throated Diver, a Great Crested Grebe on the sea, 1 Sanderling, 4 Guillemot and 2 Auk sp.

The first Lapland Bunting for a while was at Easington lagoon then flew north, but the damp weather largely kept Passerines quiet. The Whooper Swan was again on Easington straight, but other Wildfowl numbers are slowly dropping with 324 Wigeon and 50 Teal counted, but typical increases for ths time of year, 16 Shoveler and 6 Gadawll as breeders returned. There were aslo 3 Goldeneye, 22 Black-tailed Godwit and a Short-eared Owl on Kilnsea wetlands, 11 Little Grebe on Beacon ponds and the Greenshank on Easington lagoon.

Ringing: 1 Dunnock, 1 Chaffinch, 1 Goldfinch.

A foggy, dull chilly day with a moderate north easterly.  Watches: 0715-0915.

The feel good spring like weather of the last few days was soon forgotten as cold weather returned  and overall little change in the birds present. The Whooper Swan and Pale-bellied Brent remained with a Short-eared Owl at Kilnsea wetlands. Further bits of note being a Mistle Thrush at the Point and 40 Yellowhammer at Sammies.

Moving were 4 Eider, 5 Common Scoter, 78 Red-throated Diver, 2 Great Crested Grebe, 2 Gannet, 6 Dunlin and 7 Auk sp.

Ringing: 1 Chaffinch, 2 Goldfinch.

A foggy then misty overcast day. Watches: 0700-0900.

It was a day not to be out early, and not seeing much. It was only when the fog thinned out did it become a little easier. The best of the day were 2 Pale-bellied Brent on the Humber, the Whooper Swan on Easington straight and a Short-eared Owl at Kilnsea wetlands, while signs of Wildfowl leaving the area saw just 1 Goldeneye remain on Kilnsea wetlands  and the first Woodcock for a few days in Churchfield.

Ringing: 1 Robin, 1 Reed Bunting.
